    St. Mary’s to Play Manhasset in Mueller-Sims Tourney, December 7

    The St. Mary’s Boys Varsity Basketball Team, under the watchful eye of Coach Ira Hunt, has accepted an invitation to play in the prestigious Mueller-Sims Invitational Basketball Tournament at Manhasset High School. 
     
    This is the oldest running boys basketball tournament on Long Island, spanning 60 years. The teams entered this year are Port Washington, St. John’s Prep (coached by St. Mary’s own John Patrick Kiggins’ 12), St. Mary’s, and Manhasset.
     
    The Gaels will play Manhasset for the “Mayor’s Trophy” and bragging rights around town on Thursday, December 7, at 7:00 PM at the Manhasset Convocation and Recreation Complex on the Manhasset Campus. 
     
    The preliminary game features Port Washington squaring off against St. John’s Prep. All four teams will play again on Saturday, December 9 at MHS. Game times are to be announced on Thursday evening; the tournament format with the consolation game followed by the Championship game.
