Brother Kenneth Robert, FMS

Brother Kenneth Robert, FMS was the cornerstone of the storied athletic program at St. Mary’s High School, serving as a coach, mentor, and athletic director since joining the staff in 1958. His tenure spanned 60 years at St. Mary’s.
“St. Marcellin Champagnat, founder of the Marist Brothers, gives us one apostolate and that was to educate young people preparing them for a fulfilling God-centered life. Keeping this in mind and after fifty-three years of trying to follow our Founder’s guidelines, were I to paint an image or carve a plaque of my sentiment of these years at St. Mary’s High School this is what that image would be: I would feature a senior teenage male and a senior teenage female walking out of the Tilles Center at LIU Post after St. Mary’s graduation. By their demeanor, they would reflect an overwhelming sense of confidence that they have been well prepared for continued education and they had also received a good sense of Christian morality. That is what I have strived to accomplish while teaching at St. Mary’s.” —Br. Kenneth
