75 Years of Excellence in Catholic Education Celebrated

The event marked 75 years of friendship, community, and world-class academic excellence since its inception in 1949. With a sold-out crowd gathered in Plandome Country Club, nine outstanding community members, including seven alumni, were honored for their spirit, service, and dedication to the school.

The honorees were Mei-Lyn Bautista ’15, Jeanine Buatti ’81, Msgr. Frank Caldwell ’73, Nancy and Paul Cuneo ’81, Detective Jonathan Diller ’10, Tim Fulton ’96, Danny Green ’05, and Coach Joe Trimarchi.

Three-time NBA Champion Danny Green was a delightful presence for his home fanbase, engaging in conversations and photo opportunities during the event. A poignant and tearful moment for the guests was the introduction of the award for the late Detective Jonathan Diller, who was honored posthumously. With his siblings, who are also alums of St. Mary’s, and mother in attendance, Jonathan’s heroism as a police officer and his time as a student-athlete at St. Mary’s were remembered, evoking a strong sense of connection and empathy among the audience knowing that he made the ultimate sacrifice leaving behind his wife Stephanie, son Ryan, and his family. Thanks to a local businessman’s vision and Stephanie Diller’s blessing, a memorial scholarship was launched at St. Mary’s High School in Jonathan’s honor this past year during a fundraising event.

We are grateful to all the generous donors and sponsors who gave their talents, and those who attended the celebratory event in force. We thank our honorees for their spirit and unwavering dedication to our school community. And, we are grateful to our host committee members who added their guidance and enthusiasm in preparing for the historic occasion. The evening was a tremendous success and a testament to the vibrant community that comes together for our school. Let’s keep the momentum going, Gaels!
