School Closed for Students Tomorrow 3/13/20

Dear St. Mary’s Parents,

We continue to closely monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and its spread in Nassau County. We are being guided by communications from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), and the Nassau County Department of Health (DOH). As of today, there are no confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19 among our school community.

Nevertheless, both St. Mary’s High School and St. Mary’s Elementary School will be closed to students tomorrow, Friday, March 13th. This will enable our faculty and staff to refine and solidify our distance learning capacity for use in the event of extended closure. As you know, St. Mary’s has historically been a leader in the use of technology in education, and this experience will help us provide for a seamless transition as needed. Tomorrow’s closure will also be an opportunity for continued deep cleaning of the facilities.

As of today, we plan to open on Monday, March 16th, but updates will be sent out not later than Sunday, March 15th as the situation develops.

Thank you for your continued support, cooperation, and communication during this difficult time. Let us continue to pray for all those infected and affected by the spread of COVID-19.

Sincerely,

Rev. Fr. Robert A. Romeo
